Who knew laundry could be so dangerous

So, today, while I was doing laundry-like the good housewife I am. I almost lost an eye. I was filling up the washer and leaned over to fill the cup with the liquid detergent. When the cup slipped out of my hand and landed on the floor. I was leaning over the cup when I dropped it, so when it hit the floor it splashed up and went all over my face with the majority of it landing in my left eye. It burned like you couldn’t imagine. So I ran to the sink and started washing it off my face and trying to get it out of my eye. At first the water didn’t do much it only made it hurt worse. While all of this was going on I also had cookies in the oven baking-again, like the good housewife I am. The oven timer started going off, so with my eye on fire I ran in to the kitchen and pull the cookies out (because no matter what, you can’t let cookies burn!). Now I’m starting to freak out a little and decide I should read the laundry detergent bottle and see what it says to do. With the good eye, I was able to read… “flush eye with water for 10 to 15 minutes.” Now it is burning so bad that I am crying. So I start to flush my eye out again. It was so painful to stick my eye under the water I really had to go to my happy place to keep my head under the water. After I flushed it my eye was swollen, bright red, and still burning so I called the one person who always makes me feel better, my mom. She decided to come over incase she needed to take me to the doctor; and also because she couldn’t stand to hear me cry on the phone. So I flushed my eye a few more times and it started to feel a little better. When I called Greg to tell him what happened he laughed at first (because only I could manage to do something like this), and then he was worried. Who new that doing your laundry could be so dangerous. My eye is still irritated and a little red but it is feeling much better. My brothers joked that maybe I should wear safety glasses when I do the laundry. Ha ha ha so funny.

That is a funny story! It is so sad for you though and I really hope you are okay. But still funny. I would totally do something like that too!! I sprained my ankle last summer by doing yard work!

Katie, I must say that I can see this whole thing playing out, and it made me laugh. I hope your eye is ok. Leave it to Greg to laugh, but at least he probably made you feel better about it. All housework can be dangerous guys just dont know that. Ha.
